However, after World War II, the university expanded, transforming into a world-class technological institute inside and outside the state. Before adopting its current name in 2008, the university was known as the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1964. As a research-based institute, the Missouri University of Science and Technology is a member of a minor, elite group of American institutions.

Students have five living options: Miner Village, Rolla Suites, Residential Commons, University Commons, and Thomas Jefferson's Hall. With over 200 student organisations, including the Christian Campus Fellowship (CCF), one of the largest student organisations at Missouri Science and Technology, there is something for everyone. Sports enthusiasts can participate in ultimate frisbee, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, badminton, kickball, disc golf, flag football, and more. The university also boasts a large theatre that plays over 100 films yearly, many of which are free for students. The meal plan offers varied food options - from espresso to bagels and pizza to pasta, students will find everything they need in the dining hall.

Admissions criteria
